Firebase is cloud infrastructure and tools for mobile apps.

Firebase website

We made the original Firebase marketing and documentation sites for Firebase's re-launch at Google. For this project, we:

  • Designed the website, including the homepage, marketing copy, product tagline, feature pages, and pricing page
  • Designed the site's information architecture, including marketing and documentation site navigation, docs content types, and API class / method documentation

Results:

Marketing site:

1 million visits per month

Converted 24% of visitors to accounts

Documentation site:

25 million visits per month

Supported 18 SDKs and 17 features in >5,000 total pages

Cloud Functions for Firebase

Cloud Functions for Firebase is a serverless code environment for apps. It replaces a traditional server backend, and customers say it cut their app’s time to market in half.

For this project, we:

  • Designed the web UI, including dashboard, health and performance status, logs viewer, usage stats
  • Built the UI with AngularJS, including graphs to visualize performance of a distributed container system
  • Performed foundational user and market research and user testing
  • Conducted rolling user feedback sessions to improve the product
  • Helped build the initial prototype

Results:

100 million daily end users in 9mo

Used by apps like Getaround and Coffee Meets Bagel

Cloud Storage for Firebase

Cloud Storage for Firebase is file storage for apps. It allows developers to save and retrieve an app's photos, videos, and other files to the cloud in a single line of code.

For this project, we:

  • Designed the web UI, including file system, security controls, and usage stats
  • Built the UI with AngularJS
  • Performed foundational user and market research and user testing
  • Conducted rolling user feedback sessions to improve the product

Results:

100 million daily end users in 18mo

200 million daily end users in 24mo

Used by apps like Dictionary.com
