Dadaconf

Creative direction, website, marketing, operations, cat herding

Dadaconf is a knockoff tech conference we came up with and threw in 2015 and 2016, where anyone can "learn something new and make something dumb."

It featured workshops like Partially Submerging Things in Cement, Terrible Fighting Cardboard Robots, Neural Nets and Visual Art, Make Gross GIFs, Introduction to Software Synthesizers, and more — all aimed at beginners, because technology is hard enough already — and done in the name of "Big Dada," a play on the Dadaist art movement and the buzzword "big data."

For this project, we:

  • Booked conference presenters
  • Did ticket sales and online marketing
  • Made a website
  • Made stickers and other merch
  • Ran logistics and operations for the two-day event
  • Bought event insurance and made everyone sign waivers
  • Grilled hot dogs and veggie dogs at the closing cookout

Results:

75 attendees

Broke even both years
